Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence and the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) co-hosted the 2024 European Green Film Festival at Seoul Museum of History, from November 8, 2025 to December 8, 2025. The film festival screened movies every Saturday from 1 PM to 4 PM and was opened for public for free.
The festival was inaugurated by H.E. Maria Castillo Fernandez, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea.
The 10th EU-EUNIC Film Festival successfully concluded after five weeks of screenings. This year’s festival featured films from 21 countries, including 16 EUNIC member states, expanding its lineup by five additional countries compared to the previous year. Screenings were held every Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM and 4 PM, drawing steady audiences throughout the festival period.
All films were presented under the central theme “Crossing Borders,” highlighting stories of migration, cultural exchange, and shared human experiences. Over the course of the festival, audiences had the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of European cinema, reflecting the cultural richness and variety of perspectives across the continent.
For the past decade, the EU-EUNIC Film Festival has been an important cultural platform in Seoul, introducing European films that are often difficult to access in local theaters. The festival has continued to grow in scale and significance, attracting increasing interest from Korean audiences and contributing to deeper cultural understanding between Europe and South Korea.
Organized by the EUNIC cluster in Seoul, the festival was hosted in collaboration with cultural institutes and embassies of EU member countries. Screenings took place at the Seoul Museum of History, a central venue that provided an ideal setting for cultural exchange and dialogue across geographical and cultural borders.
All films were screened in their original languages with Korean subtitles, and each screening was preceded by a 10-minute “Movie Talk” session, offering audiences additional insights into the films and their cultural contexts.
With its expanded participation and strong audience engagement, the 10th EU-EUNIC Film Festival reaffirmed its role as a meaningful bridge between European and Korean cultures and demonstrated a shared commitment to strengthening cultural ties through cinema.
