In the eighth session of the EU Summer School Program, Prof. Park focused on the Euro and the Eurozone Debt Crisis, providing a clear overview of the process and historical background of European Monetary Integration. Students gained insight into the Euro and the Single Monetary Policy through the lens of the Optimum Currency Area (OCA) theory, along with the key challenges associated with it. Prof. Park then applied the OCA framework to the European Union, critically examining whether the necessary conditions are fulfilled in the EU context. The session concluded with an in-depth discussion on the EU’s Economic and Monetary Union, highlighting its main features, achievements, overall evaluation, and possible future scenarios.
