In the final session of this semester, the EU Society visited the Embassy of Ireland in Seoul for a special discussion with Ambassador Michelle Winthrop. The activity was supported by the KU Jean Monnet EU Centre of Excellence, emphasizing the strong collaboration between academic and diplomatic institutions.

The session focused on Ireland’s approach to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the EU framework, highlighting national priorities, implementation strategies, and the challenges of translating policy into practice. Students had the opportunity to engage in an open discussion over coffee, sharing their perspectives and asking thoughtful questions. They found it particularly insightful to learn how Ireland advances its SDG goals through community engagement, innovation, and coordinated intergovernmental efforts, while also exploring how Ireland’s policy of military neutrality influences its international cooperation and role within the EU.
