The eighth session of the EU Society was a special one, held in celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest, which had just taken place over the weekend (May 17th, 2025). To mark the occasion, members gathered for a relaxed and festive viewing party featuring pizza, snacks, and drinks.

Rather  than  a  traditional  presentation,  the  evening  focused  on  the  cultural phenomenon that is Eurovision. We watched a series of videos exploring the history of the contest, the qualification process, and the broader cultural and political implications of Eurovision  in  Europe.  This  led  to  a lively and engaging discussion on how the event reflects  European  identity,  solidarity,  and,  at  times, subtle rivalries. Members revisited some of the most iconic acts from past competitions, exchanging opinions on standout performances and debating which countries or artists were unfairly snubbed. The room was filled with nostalgia and spirited disagreement as members rooted for their favourites and rewatched memorable moments. The session was not only entertaining but also served as a reminder of how music can act as a unique cultural bridge across Europe. It was a joyful, informal gathering that brought members closer together through shared enthusiasm for one of Europe’s most beloved annual traditions.
