On November 12, 2024, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, led by its Director, Professor Jae-Seung Lee, organized a special visit to the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea for members of the EU Society at Korea University as well as other interested students. The EU Delegation welcomed the group for an afternoon of learning and exchange.

H.E. Maria Castillo Fernandez, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, provided the students with valuable insights into the mission and daily work of the EU Delegation. She explained how the Delegation functions as the official diplomatic representation of the EU, facilitating dialogue, cooperation, and strategic partnership with South Korea across a wide range of fields, from trade and economic policy to climate action, research and global security.

Following her presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions. Their inquiries ranged from the EU’s decision-making process and career opportunities within EU institutions to the future of EU–Korea cooperation.
