On November 21, 2023, Professor Jae-Seung Lee, Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, invited Research Professor Heungkoo Lee to deliver a special lecture titled “Energy Transition: The UK & Germany”. The lecture took place in room 332 of the International Studies Hall.

Professor Heungkoo Lee began by offering an engaging and insightful overview of the European Green Deal, outlining its goals, guiding principles, and its significance for Europe’s long-term climate ambitions. He then turned to a more focused comparison of the energy transition strategies in Germany and the United Kingdom, highlighting how both countries are striving to move away from coal and expand their reliance on renewable energy sources.

The session concluded with an active and thoughtful Q&A, during which students posed questions. Professor Lee responded with detailed explanations that further enriched the discussion and encouraged continued interest in Europe’s energy transition.
